A TOOL TO CREATE
Introducing the C3 Guide Rule — a simple tool that helps even the littlest learner easily measure and cut straight. From there, the device grows with the user, giving them greater ability to cut more precisely and in different mediums. From drawing and cutting straight lines to cutting fabric and making garments/home decor, the C3 Guide Rule can help!
THE RULER EVOLVED
Constructed from a durable polymer blend, the C3 Guide Rule is built to stand up to years of creative work — and work with the student from Grade 1 to Graduation.
THE C3 GUIDE RULE
Like any great tool, the C3 Guide Rule is versatile and intuitive to understand. At first glance it looks like two rulers molded together — but its value comes from that very same, eyecatching, V-shaped channel.
The unique cutting groove of the C3 empowers even the littlest users to cut straight lines in paper or fabric, with a variety of tools — from safety scissors, xacto blades, or even rotary cutters. It also features measurements in both imperial and metric, on both sides, for users on either side of the pond. Finally, with its low profile and small width (6in.), the C3 Guide Rule fits easily in any binder with its simple three hole punch.
The C3 Guide Rule is a compact and efficient 6" x 12" x .75" and easily fits in any 3-Ring Binder.
The C3 Guide Rule comes in a variety of colors and plastic materials, with additional models available — including a 36" length variant for DIY crafters and seamstresses (see below).

ARTS & CRAFTS
with Paper
We at C3 know that it's one thing for students to have the tools, and it's another thing to have lesson plans that use the tools. We've provided, below, some example lesson plans that are made even easier if your students have the C3 Guide Rule. One of the best advantages of the C3 Guide Rule is that it empowers younger students to work above their grade level — developing fine motor skills earlier in their schooling career.
Paper Spider
This fun spider is a simple build of only strips and googly eyes, perfect with a simple lesson on spiders. Learn how to construct this by downloading the instructions below.
Rainbow Rain Cloud

Otto The Octopus

Paper-O-Lantern

THE POWER OF PLAY
RESEARCH DRIVEN DESIGN
Creative play, especially the actions of arts and crafts, is critical to a child's healthy mental development — as well as fine motor skill development. The C3 Guide Rule helps develop those fine motor skills by opening the abilities of younger children to create more complex projects. Having a wider breadth of projects available that involve two hands let children build the strength and ability required to create while remaining interested. Finally, by having this lever to create more at a younger age, it will encourage children to favor and pursue activities away from screens, a new, damaging factor to motor skills & mental health.
Below are some research findings that bolster the new reality we live in: screen-based learning, while technically advanced, is not enough to teach children the creative thinking and fine motor skills needed to be a well-rounded and capable human beings. C3 can start children on the path to change that.

Effect of Touch Screen Tablet Use on Fine Motor Development of Young Children
Researchers reported that children who engaged in greater than 60 minutes of weekly touch-screen, computer play had weaker fine motor skill when compared to children who engaged in less touch-screen time. These results suggest that today’s increased use of technology may be negatively impacting fine motor development in kids.

Developmental Relations Among Motor and Cognitive Processes and Mathematics Skills
Fine motor coordination is fundamental for interacting with and understanding the physical world, and in turn, developing mathematically relevant skills, such as understanding concepts of shape, space, and numeracy. Children with strong fine motor coordination may be able to manipulate objects more efficiently, thereby increasing their understanding of spatial relationships and their ability to mentally represent objects.

Fine motor skill proficiency in typically developing children: On or off the maturation track?
In this study, it was found that despite children’s raw scores improving with age, children’s fine motor skill proficiency was not progressing at the expected rate given by normative data. This leads us to question the role and impact of modern society on fine motor skills development over the past number of decades.
